Filling:
4 cups Montmorerency cherries
1 1/2 cups sugar
4 tbsp cornstarch
1/2 tsp almond extract
1/2 tsp salt
Topping:
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup rolled oats
2/3 cup brown sugar
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 cup chopped pecans
1/3 cup melted margarine
Preheat oven to 400°. Line a 9" pie pan with a crust.
Mix filling ingredients together and let sit for 10 minutes. Pour pie filling into the dish, and spread evenly.
In a medium bowl, mix together flour, oats, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix in melted margarine. Spread over pie filling, and sprinkle with chopped pecans.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, turn down oven to 350° and bake for 30 minutes more. Cover pie edges if they get too brown.
Let cool before serving.
